Your doctor may ask you to stop some medications prior to surgery. Please be specific about all the things you are taking on a regular basis. This includes supplements, vitamins and teas. There are some supplements that can interfere with wound healing or may cause negative reactions during surgery or procedures.
Please note that you may be prescribed pain medications for a few days following surgery. Some of these medications may contain narcotics. Various medical associations and organizations are now emphasizing the need for these medications to be taken for as little time as possible and they should not ever be used as long-term treatments for pain. In the short term, they can cause constipation and drowsiness. If used long term, they can be addictive and carry other serious health risks including death.
